🌶️ Official Rules – Chili Cookoff Competition

📋 General Overview

This competition features two categories:

  • Judges Panel – Blind judging by culinary experts

  • People's Choice – Public tasting and voting

All chili must be prepared on-site from scratch. Both categories follow health and safety guidelines and fair play standards.

🧑‍🍳 Participant Requirements

  • Registration: All cooks must be pre-registered with a completed entry form and fee.

  • Arrival Time: Teams must check in by 8:00 AM., with setup completed before cooking begins.

  • Team Size: Max 4 people per team.

  • Cooking Station: Each team receives a 10'x10' space and must bring all cooking equipment and supplies.

  • Fire Safety: A fire extinguisher is required at each booth.

🍲 Chili Preparation Rules

  • On-Site Cooking Only: No pre-cooked or pre-marinated ingredients.

  • Time Limit: Cooking begins at 8:00 AM. and chili must be submitted by 12 Noon.

  • Allowed Ingredients: Meat, chili peppers, spices, onions, tomatoes, vegetables.

  • Prohibited Ingredients: Rice, pasta, commercial chili mixes or sauces.

🧼 Health & Sanitation

  • Gloves, hand sanitizer, and food-safe handling procedures required.

  • Chili must be kept above 140°F and covered when not serving.

  • Each team is subject to inspection by event staff or health officials.

🏆 Category 1 – Judges Panel

🎯 Submission Guidelines

  • Submit one (1) judging cup (32 oz), filled to the rim.

  • Each entry must be anonymous—no garnishes or markings.

  • Chili will be judged blind by a panel of food professionals.

Top 3 winners will receive Trophies, Certificates, and Prizes!

🗳️ Category 2 – People’s Choice

🎫 Public Tasting

  • Each team must provide samples for public tasting beginning at 12 Noon.

  • Tasting tickets will be distributed to attendees who will cast votes at the event.

  • Each team must produce a minimum of 3 gallons of Chili.

🥇 Voting Criteria

  • Taste and presentation as judged by the public.

  • One vote per ticket per attendee.

Top 3 winners will receive Award Ribbons, Gift Cards, and Swag Bags!

🚫 Additional Rules

  • No early serving: Samples for public or judges may not be offered until official start time.

  • No commercial sales: Chili must not be sold at the event.

  • Ingredient Disclosure: Teams must list all ingredients publicly for allergy safety.
